Yes, FoSTaC training is now compulsory for every food business that works under FSSAI rules. All firms holding a Central or State licence must appoint one certified Food Safety Supervisor for every 25 food handlers, so that safe food practices are watched over all day.
The obligation comes from Section 16(3)(h) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and was rolled out in October 2017. It covers both manufacturing plants and catering units, and is being introduced step by step across different food sectors. if you run a licensed food business in India, you have to finish FoSTaC training and keep a certified supervisor on the floor to stay within the law and protect the health of your customers.
