To become a food auditor, you must have a bachelor's degree in food science or a related field. You must have three years of experience working in food production or quality assurance as well as at least 30 semester hours of core science education. To work in this field, you must also have evidence that you have taken the Professional Food Safety Auditor Training Course or an equivalent course and hold a current HACCP certification.

 

The internal audit is a review of the company's food safety systems, targeting the Good Manufacturing Practices or what is also known as GMP. The internal audit is not only to ensure compliance with the company's own food safety standards but also with major auditing schemes such as BRC Global Standards or SQF.

If you're considering a job in food safety auditing, the first thing you'll need is a college degree. Many positions are open to people with high school diplomas who have a lot of experience or training in food processing or manufacturing.
